Velazquez has in the past collaborated with musicians, exploring and transforming aural information into highly original paintings such as, a monumental piece commissioned by the Rosenberg and Kaufman Gallery in New York, inspired by the compositions of iconic American composer George Crumb. For Flight to Ades , Velazquez has drawn deep inspiration from the music of British composer Thomas Adès. In this series, Velazquez captures the ephemeral beauty found in the complexities of sound and a timeless use of light and dark on canvas, offering a space where the viewer can re fl ect, dream, and experience a profound sense of transcendence. Through the interplay of form, movement, and atmosphere, Flight to Ades invites us to enter a new territory where the echoes of the past merge with a new language in painting.” 8 July - 19 September: The Corn Exchange, High East Street, DORCHESTER, DT1 1HF.
