Her work is a response to music by composers as diverse as J.S. Bach, Chopin, Debussy, John Cage, Steve Reich and Max Richter. It starts with falling in love with a particular piece of music, then total immersion - listening, learning to play piano pieces and then making endless drawings and studies in sketchbooks. Works included here range from Chopin’s Nocturne Opus 9 No. 1 , La Mer by Debussy (an orchestral piece), and drawings from her most recent project Max Richter’s music for the ballet Woolf Works which is based on the life and novels of Virginia Woolf. One of the drawings from the Woolf Works series has been shortlisted for the 2025 Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize. Fiona Robinson is an artist writer and curator. She was elected President of the Royal West of England Academy in 2019. Her works are held in the British Museum, The Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge, the Royal West of England Academy Bristol, Swindon Museum and public collections in Australia and the Republic of Ireland.” 6 November - 3 January: Mowlem Theatre, Shore Road, SWANAGE, BH19 1DD.
